Fort Lauderdale airport is great. If you are flying Delta the security checkpoint is usually pretty quick and easy. The newly expanded Delta SkyClub is quite nice with great views of the terminal on one side and the airfield on the other.

Arrivals:
Arrived right before the holidays, plenty of stores and food options. It was clean, well labelled. There were even breastfeeding pods inside. The departures and arrivals were a bit confusing as itβs multilevel. Finding an exit was a bit of a challenge, we finally found it.
Departures:
All terminals are side by side so if you are flying out of terminal 4 you will have to drive through the traffic jam for all other terminals first. Flew out of terminal 3, the lines at the secuirty were long but it went by quick. There was a small duty free shop, spandex, several food options. Terminal 2 has shake shack. The bathrooms were clean!

Crowded facility at the hours I used it (noon to 3:30 pm). Very loud interior, making it hard to place a work call. Restrooms are easy to find but require maintenance (coat/backpack hooks missing). Expensive dining options.
On a positive note, uncommon service options are available such as the art gallery with gorgeous artwork by airport and airlines employees, free movie download station from the Fort Lauderdale Public Library and free breastfeeding pods (see enclosed pictures). This gave them an additional star on my review (originally at 3 stars).

Easy to find where you are going. Free internet. Employees are friendly enough. Everything seemed well laid out and well organized. Signs are everywhere to get you where you need to go. Outlets to charge your electronics.

Very nice airport! Very clean, but sometimes it can get very crowded. Itβs better than MIA Airport, since itβs smaller. The lines also donβt take as long as the do in MIA. Itβs a great airport! Though it doesnβt have many shops and stuff like that. It also doesnβt have many lounges, just 3 and thatβs it. Overall great and clean airport, but smaller than others.

Super smooth experience getting through security and very quickly. Airport looks good and feels new. Not a ton of good food choices but for the right price, you can eat and drink yourself into a good nap on a plane.

This airport is nice and user friendly. I wish signage was better to indicate which terminal and zone you are in for ride sharing/Uber. Easy to get in and out of the airport.

Real nice airport lots of stores good security. Very convenient shuttle bus to the Tri. Rail and very easy to route around this whole area. Everything is well connected. Staff is very friendly and very willing to help. At a moment's, you can't get lost in this airport. There's plenty of signage everywhere to help get to where you need to go when you need to get there.

FLL is quite an experience, to say the very least. There is ALWAYS traffic at it, near it, around it. Even your own thoughts become that of traffic. Anyway, the employees seem to be always slightly frustrated. But then again, itβs understandable as itβs quite literally one of the most busiest airports in America. FLL does feature cheaper flights than other airports in South Florida, bumping them up significantly.

This Airbnb is Hollywood, Florida was the best one I have ever seen. It was very spacious, comfortable and clean! The decorations were cute, as well as the lighting fixtures.

Small. Small is not always bad. This little airport is well organized and efficient. With a Delta Skyclub available and all the standard food and beverage options available you can easily wait for your flight. I think my favorite thing was the Delta Skyclub.

Fort Lauderdale Hollywood Airport
Review
Overall Rating: 3 of 5 stars
Fort Lauderdale Hollywood Airport left a mixed impression on me. While some aspects were positive, others could definitely use improvement to make the travel experience smoother and more enjoyable.
Pros:
Cleanliness: The airport was well-maintained, with clean terminals and restrooms.
Modern Facilities: The airport seemed relatively modern, with updated amenities and technology available.
Efficient Security: The security process was relatively quick and efficient, even during peak travel times. If you have TSA Pre-check or Global entry, it will help to speed through security.
Variety of Food Options: The airport offered a decent variety of food options, from grab-and-go snacks to sit-down restaurants.
Helpful Staff: Most of the airport staff I encountered were friendly and helpful.
Cons:
Crowded Terminals: The terminals felt quite crowded, especially during busy travel periods.
Limited Seating: It was sometimes difficult to find available seating, particularly near gates.
Expensive Food and Drinks: As expected, the food and drinks at the airport were quite pricey.
Long Walks: The airport is quite large, so be prepared for some long walks between gates.
Overall:
Fort Lauderdale Hollywood Airport is a decent airport with modern facilities and efficient security. However, the crowds, limited seating, and expensive food and drinks can detract from the overall travel experience. If you're looking for a comfortable and relaxing airport, this might not be the best choice.
Tips for Travelers:
Arrive Early: Give yourself plenty of time to navigate the airport and get through security, especially during peak travel times.
Bring Your Own Snacks: The food and drinks at the airport are expensive, so consider bringing your own snacks and a reusable water bottle.
Wear Comfortable Shoes: You'll likely be doing a lot of walking, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes.
I hope this review is helpful!

Nothing bad to say about the airport. Have been using this airport for a long time. The traffic isnβt as bad as Miami airport, usually the pick ups and drop off are faster. The check in baggage line moves quickly as well. Same goes with security check line as well. There are a bunch off decent options for food to choose from. The airport is well maintained as well.
If you are in the area, consider this airport if the prices are better from here.

Very busy, kind of dirty, but their are a lot of people here. Multiple staff seem unhappy, especially for checking in your bags. Long lines for food, upstairs womans bathroom had multiple not in service womans stalls. Make sure anything you get from Burger King is what you actually ordered, they are extremely busy.

FLL has a nice flow. Everything you need in walking distance of 5 minutes, inside the terminal. Had lunch at the Cuban restaurant near gate 12. Delicious Chicken Ceasar salad. Washed down a Margherita. Had about 40 minutes to kill. Kitchen delivered to table, was able to eat without being rushed to make the boarding time. Very nice hub.

At Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, where holiday wreaths hang incongruously above palm fronds teeming with roosting birds, the collision of tropical paradise and aviation efficiency plays out in unexpected ways. This sun-drenched gateway to South Florida, ranking as America's 20th busiest airport, manages to both charm and challenge its 35 million annual passengers with a distinctly Floridian blend of convenience and contradiction.
The airport's four terminals, connected by long fluorescent-lit corridors with shimmering terrazzo floors, tell the story of FLL's evolution from its humble beginnings as an airboat hub to its current status as a major international gateway. A hidden meditation garden in Terminal 2 offers respite from the constant flow of travelers, many of whom are en route to the nearby cruise ships at Port Everglades. The iconic control tower, immortalized in "Miami Vice" and "Scarface," stands as a testament to the airport's role in South Florida's cultural mythology.
Throughout the terminals, an efficient if institutional atmosphere prevails. The space manages to accommodate budget travelers and luxury seekers alike, with dining options ranging from quick-service counters to upscale eateries serving local seafood. The remote rental car facility, accessed by blue shuttle buses emblazoned with digital announcements, adds an extra layer to the choreography of arrival and departure.
Yet FLL's challenges are as evident as its charms. The substantial bird population roosting in the surrounding palms creates ongoing maintenance concerns, while long walking distances between services can test weary travelers. The airport's expansion plans have raised environmental concerns, even as it struggles to balance growth with sustainability. During peak hours, the limited seating areas and basic amenities reveal an infrastructure sometimes stretched beyond its comfort zone.
Despite these growing pains, FLL maintains an efficient security operation and a robust police presence, while ride-share services and ground transportation options keep the human tide flowing smoothly. The airport's proximity to South Florida's beaches and attractions helps compensate for its utilitarian aesthetic, though the contrast between the harsh fluorescent lighting inside and the subtropical sunshine outside can be jarring.
For the discerning traveler, FLL offers a masterclass in the compromises of modern air travel: where meditation gardens coexist with busy corridors, where tropical birds roost above hurrying passengers, and where the glamour of South Florida tourism meets the pragmatic demands of mass transportation. Like the palm trees that dot its landscape β both decorative and defiant β Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport stands as a testament to Florida's eternal balancing act between natural beauty and human ambition, a gateway where the promise of paradise begins under fluorescent lights.

Going through security at Fort Lauderdale International Airport is secure but smooth. The flow of travelers goes quickly and easily with the respectful staff. Our flight was out of terminal 1. There were plenty of eateries to choose from plus a variety of shops. The crowds are at a minimum & plenty of opportunities for social distancing. This is one of our favorite airports because of the smaller crowds, easy to navigate & the amenities available while you wait to board.

Decent size airport. Lots of construction going on I hope it is better in the future. I did notice that a drinking fountain someone was filling up a water bottle and left it there. It was there the whole time I was which was about 3-4 hours. I would live since more attention to cleaning. Security was quick.

This airport is very easily accessible off of i95 or the turnpike. Signs are labeled with large letters and pictures and there are plenty of them to let you know where you need to go. Dropped off a passenger at terminal 1. Lots of room to unload and had no issue leaving the ajrport.

Clean airport. Great and smooth security. Many eating spots. Chargers in many of the seats while you wait. The only reason why Iβm not giving it 5 stars is because when we landed there we read the screens on the various areas to pick up luggage. We waited and waited and then a lady that recognized us from her flight walked by and told us they had changed the carrousel. The screen was still showing pick up where I was. We were telling each other word of mouth. Other than that I loved flying there. Way smaller than Orlando = less crowds. They also have at least one pet relief area per terminal.

Awesome airport, easy to navigate, and clean. There are many airlines serving here, so you can go anywhere no matter what. Good selection of food and drinks to keep you awake. Security was quick, easy, and friendly. Only complaint I have is that if your flight switches gates, itβs gonna be a long walk.

Nice airport.
Terminal 2 is clean, well sized and TSE uses the latest equipment for a fast inspection.
Plus they sell mini palm trees...

FYI, Southwest *international* departures are on the first floor in arrivals, across baggage claim 6. Security gates are on floor 3. I like this airport. It's easy to get in and out of because of the loop design.
Update 04/10/2024: One thing that can be improved is the communication at the international baggage claim (Southwest airlines). With the very busy travel yesterday, the staff got overwhelmed, understandably. "Luggage is at 3, no wait 2, no wait 1". I get it. Here's my suggestion: communicate clearly every step of the way to the baggage handlers. From the moment they get to the plane, it should be clear as day where the luggage is headed. Use Walkie-Talkies and make sure the entire team is on the same page. It's ultimately a team effort. If a command decision is made and communicated, receive a "roger that" confirmation from those accountable.

In my opinion it is a easy airport. My last visit in May 2021,I was able to get in and out checking in easily. You have to pay attention when your there. My transition from flight deck to ground transportation was simple.

Terminal 1 was awesome when I passed through. Leaving, I was at terminal 2. 7pm 80% of the food stores were closed. This side (where you wait at gates) has a strange atmosphere but I am not able to describe exactly why. Relieved to see outlets in the waiting chairs. Staff was friendly though, and I appreciate the humor at TSA customs, great people! Travel date june 3, 2023

Very early arrival for 7am flight. All personnel greeted us promptly, were friendly, and courteous.
Although the security line was long it moved quickly.
Luggage arrived, at the carousel, in a timely manner.
Locating the transportation pickup area was easy. Only wish the overhang was larger. Trying to load vehicle, during a storm, was tricky.

FLL is a pretty decent airport. Flights and passengers were managed pretty efficiently. We passed through security extremely quick and made our gate with no issues. Staff members from rental car employees to airline gate attendants were kind and helpful.

Fantastic airport. They have had some major challenges in the past but have moved forward with style and class. From arrivals to departures itβs a fine experience. The new designed car rental and the advances signage on the freeway ate also a great addition. I especially like the mosaic flooring with Florida wildlifeβ¦. You may think itβs bizarre to mention, but it all tile so that your luggage scoots along in a rapid no stress fashion. Enjoy FLL

Airport was clean. A lot of food and drinks choices at the terminals. The bathrooms were clean. The TSA and emigration got us through relatively quick for the middle of the day. The G1 and G2 terminals were a little jammed at the end. The two flights boarded at one time and it was hard to tell one from the other. Overall not a bad airport at all.

This has been an airport that has been my connection to family and chosen family for the short time Iβve been lucky enough to call Florida home. All positive experiences so far. Posting the parking garage map to hopefully help others. π₯° I usually end up a true country mile away from the terminal that I need. Getting in my steps I suppose Iβm grateful to get my steps in. The airport is crowded so leave yourself plenty of time the airport is laid out well with plenty of signs so you can easily find your gate. Getting through security TSA went very quickly. In the airport there is plenty of restaurants food, gifts, speciality. Coffees, magazines, candy, t-shirts and more. I do not fly very often and I found the airport to be an adventure!

Came through Fort Lauderdale for a long weekend and Iβm so glad I chose to use this airport. For the size of terminal 1, they had good diversity in choices as far as food and drink. The WiFi was surprisingly strong too. On my flight back out yesterday there was *nobody* in the security line. I was through in 2 minutes. The signage made it very easy to navigate as well.

This is Such a Nice Big Airport. Itβs good for long lay overs itβs like a little mini mall. The stores that are inside are really Florida π. It very clean to say itβs so huge, most big places tend not to do so well with the up keep of cleanliness. There are lots of places to charge your phone or laptop while on a lengthy layover. The staff there were very friendly, and helpful. Itβs one of my favorite Airports to fly into . Itβs a whole experience keep up the great work

It's a little smaller than other airports with fewer shopping options that shutter earlier, are slow, below average quality, and high prices. The bathrooms were dirty and smelled terrible. Plus it was clear people had been smoking there. It's a little too crowded because all services are slammed.

Excellent not so small airport. Easy in and out. The rental car center can be reached walking. It is just a longer walk from each terminal, but it is across terminal 1.
Inside the airport it is clean, with great food options and bars. Staff is quick and professional.
Now it is an expanded international airport with many options that are over 5 hour flight so central and south America, not just the Caribbean destinations.

Well-designed, large airport with mostly helpful staff and efficient operations. Lots of restaurants and shops throughout each terminal. Great rental car setup and good views of city from many areas of the airport.

Here's the thing, it's an airport. Does it have the fanciest of restaurants? No. Is it as cool as Doha's airport in Qatar, with it's amazing architecture and sculpture, and activities? DEFINITELY not. It's it like those adorable Caribbean airports where their version of security are middle aged women with saucy attitudes who don't care where you're from but everything outside of the airport screams VAYYYYYCAYYYYYYYYYYTION!? Oh goodness no. Silly.
But I can't help thinking for Every issue I'm finding with this place, that, overall, it's run efficiently enough that I don't need to focus on what I don't like a lot. Food, drink, TV, alcohol, souvenirs (HA!- No... Not from here), bathrooms.
That said, JetBlue just delayed my flight departure time... I might amend this.

I arrived here on a Wednesday night from Atlanta. I had only been here one time in the past. I use a wheelchair when traveling because of my knees. The agent who pushed me through the airport gave excellent service. He was very kind and helpful. He allowed me to use the restroom before getting my bags.
Once we got to baggage claim he asked me what color was my bag. He patiently waited for it and retrieved it. I thought I would have to roll it with me but nope he handled it. He took me straight to the bench outside as I requested to wait for my ride. Outstanding. The airport is also very gorgeous. I feel like most Florida airports are nice looking.

Nice airport, not easy to get into or out of necessarily by private vehicle but not worse than a lot of other airports in major cities. The trirail and bus are definitely the easy way to go though. TSA was super chill, friendly and efficient which was honestly a nice surprise. Terminals are clean but we couldn't find a single charging port this time that actually had power. We were in Terminal C and checked (between my party and another group) essentially all the charging stations the gates 7,8,9 and 1. No power anywhere. Otherwise a nice airport and a good experience overall.
